Have you earned your sleep?

Have you earned your sleep?

Or is it time to snort another line of coke and plow through the night in order to finish what you’re working on. Again.

When I told her that I don’t feel like I deserved to sleep now she looked at me like I suggested to rob a bank. Said something too odd, too out of the ordinary. Something most people would never say. Which I guess I did. “Earned your sleep?”, she responded.

Yeah, I got big goals and I don’t think today played out how it needed to, so I don’t feel like going to sleep. There’s a better use of my time right now.

Now, I’m not a fan of sleep deprivation. I highly advise against it and as a guy who’s into fitness look to get as much sleep as I possibly can.

That’s why you have to ask yourself this question at the start of your day.

I only feel good going to sleep when I feel like I accomplished what I set out to do. When I know I did everything I could to make the most of the day.

In order to do so I ask myself at the beginning of the day: What are the top things I have to get done? Who do I need to ask for help, who do I want to connect with, what are my goals?

And then I reverse engineer what it takes to get there.

Everybody defines success different and I’m not here to give you a universal guide to live your life. Do you. I found this helps me stay on track and make sure I don’t waste more time than necessary.

Life’s too short for those kind of games.

Stay awesome and don’t fail to build!

Haha nice that you made this! :D

This is great! I like what you said about asking yourself in the morning what you'd like to accomplish. Self talk can be incredibly motivating!

Definitely! You're the first person you have to convince you can do anything. :D

Interesting topic @ikigai . Congratulations!

Being into fitness, I know the importance of sleep. min 6-8 hrs of sleep is recommended.
Really appreciate your effort. :)

Great perspective.

I feel like that many times and your 'reverse' question strategy is great.

I also found that, even when I sleep 4 hours I feel energetic doing things I love, mind you, I said 'doing' and not depending on results, I feel awesome. On the days I spend my energy doing things I feel like I earned my sleep.

Yes! With an end goal in mind, it is way easier to come up with at least the first couple of steps in the right direction.

Oh, that's great! Falling in love with the process is probably the most important part.

Fascinating...
Been on a 3-5 hours sleep cycle for years now.
Its time for a change. I deserve to sleep more. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That sounds rough haha get yourself some sleep :D

The whole "I'll sleep when I'm dead" mentality never resonated with me. The smartest and most successful people sleep. Too many benefits not too.

Yeah, it looks like the time has come where people finally shift their focus. Focussing on getting a good night's sleep because they realize it's too important to sacrifice.

It's not how long you sleep. It's what you do when you're awake.

Interesting topic iki, i like this phrase "Life’s too short for those kind of games."

It truly is. Thanks for your comment :)
