This is a hard one because there are unfathomable variables at play in every single event in history from world wars to going to the shop to buy some milk. Everyone thinks differently to all kinds of degrees, some people who think in a similar way may be influenced by wildly different things. and two polar opposite may experience the same circumstance.
History does repeat but never in the exact same set circumstances and patterns, unless you force it so in a controlled environment. I would like to think that more is learned than ignored in each instance because we as a human race have developed so far, if we were doomed to repeat then perhaps we would be stuck inside an endless loop of stagnation?
Although it is hard to see what the central banks and policy makers have learned from history sometimes.
