WINTER BLUES: How to have fun this time of year! --- MILK A COW! (Whaaaaat did you say?)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Lack of sunshine? Dreary weather? Can't wait for summer? THERE IS HOPE!

..

When warm and beautiful weather hits, people have fun outdoors. BBQ, Swimming, Travel, Camping, and more.

Until then, most people just hide indoors and wait for nicer weather.

There is no where to go. Doing something outside the house is expensive. Nothing comes to mind.

....
Some people go out to dinner. That's nice for a single meal, but you can only do that so many times before that isn't very interesting anymore.

The only thing standing in your way is a little bit of depressive thoughts and lack of ambition to change you surrounding.

  • You could keep staring at your computer screen all day waiting for the price of cryptocurrency to go up. Or you can take a break from it all, and go feed your spirit.

  • Here's some suggestions and see if any of them appeal to you:

You don't need neighbors, friends, or family either. (Unless you want to invite them)

THROW YOURSELF A PARTY! Get some of your favorite snacks, your favorite music, and to encourage your mind to get into the spirit, put up some balloons too!

Usually parties surround an important date or special occasion. Well when winter blues set in, you don't need a reason. It's time to throw a party anyway.

Laughing-Smiley-small.png

Find a comedy club in a nearby city. There is often lots to choose from. Have you ever been to one? How long has it been? Good laughter is the best medicine. Find a friend to go with, or even go yourself.

library-books.png

When was the last time you went to a used book store, or a public library? These places can offer things you never expect. For instance, walk into these places with an open mind. Browse what's available, and I bet you something is going to catch your interest for free or cheap. You'd never know unless you go somewhere you normally don't and see what happens.

cinema-movie-theater.png

Watching movies at home is not the same as immersing yourself into a movie at a cinema or movie theater. They have nice screens, professional sound systems, and it gets you away from home for an evening. When is the last time you went and saw a movie in a place like this? Maybe it's time to try it again..

used-items.png

Visit a thrift store or used store. The fun about these places is they bring back happy memories when you see an item you use to have in your earlier years. They can be like a free museum. Who knows? Maybe you'll find something extra cheap that you forgot you needed?

telephone-symbol.png

Call an old friend. Maybe a family member you haven't spoken to in a long time. Everyone has some catching up to do... besides... it's not nice when people call each other when they need something. Just pick up the phone and give someone a shout. Ask them how they're doing and let them know you were thinking about them. They'll appreciate it. :)

volunteer-icon.png

Volunteer somewhere for part of the day, or even a full day. Animal shelters, food banks, even a elderly people are always in need of some help. Not only will you be helping them, it gets you out of your home, is constructive and socially rewarding at the same time. When is the last time you volunteered? If you never have, experiment and push your limits. Try it once. If you have done it before, why not try it again? Even just for a day?

milk-a-cow.png

FIND A FARMER -- volunteer your services for a couple hours with some chores. Tell him that you're willing to lend a farm hand if he teaches you how to milk a cow. CRAZY IDEA but why not??

Listen, if you do this.. just wait for one of your friends to start drinking milk one day and right while their drinking blurt out. "I milked a cow once! How about you?" -- they'll probably erupt in laughter at unexpected randomness of what you just said and you can have fun watching them spurt out their milk all over themselves. lol.

arts-and-crafts.png

Paint a picture. Scrapbook some photos. Build some art out of recycled items. The artistic parts of our brains, and creativity can develop inner peace and tranquility. Do something off beat and fun with arts and crafts. It doesn't matter how it looks in the end. As long as you had fun doing it, that's the important thing. If you need inspiration, go to your local dollar store. They have lots of craft materials for really cheap. Make a game out of seeing what you can come up with... you might surprise yourself!

If any of you have any ideas on how to make a fun day for free, cheap, or low cost to get rid of the winter blues, please suggest them below. What have you done that is out of the ordinary that doesn't take a lot of money but was still fun to do?

  • Leaving our comfort zones for something new and different builds our character. Try it!

Im already a farmer! So come on by ill find you something to do! :p

See? I was right. There is always something to do on a farm, and they could use the help. :)

A great selection of ideas to get you out of the house and occupied.
I'll choose the free route xD

Fun fact- Milking a cow will help protect you from smallpox!

I like to go to the movies with my family when I have free time. here in venezuela it's always summer, here the snow never falls but I would like it if it snowed but that's impossible ...
Every time you make a publication of better quality, I like it.
One day I will be better than you.
but when it's bigger because now
I'm a baby compared to you.

Or you could throw yourself a party but you head is filled with how crypto currency will rise
These are addicted crypto lovers though, lol 😂😱😱😂

And on a more serious note I think I'd go to the farm more thrilling experience buddy

hehe, I loved your ideas and actually I tend to do some of them when the weather is bad (apart from the cow milking but its next on my bucket list)

I see your not quite done with using memes. :(

Yeah that’s stated well , every point you told could be connected well , indeed I also STEEM to have fun :)

Well write man😍.

Until then, most people just hide indoors and wait for nicer weather.

I like to do this😂

A great idea for a blog. When I use to live in cold town the winter always really used to get to me. The main thing I would do was plan a lot of skiing trips, but as you say: expensive!!

Outside stuff was they only thing what really helped me to be fresh. Hiking and walking. Hiking gives a whole dimension to your surrouning because they look different in winters than in summer. Feel the air!!

What we would do also was go to pub-hunting. Not to get drunk drunk drunk, but we would try the special winter editon beers and then walk to a next pub. Just three of those babies are enough for you. Talk with you friends about life.

Visit a brewery! Go by bike so you can give the beers a try. Exercise and social event and maybe even learning something!

I no problem because blbla😂😂😂

Thank you. The idea of the article is clear. When it's bad, it's good to remember and do something that has not been done for a long time and has long forgotten. Now life gives a lot of comfort, so people are constantly at home with modern comfort. At the same time, the mood is often sad. Good article. Indeed, there is something to think about and cheer up. Interesting and fun :))
