RED-THROATED DIVER
Today I am going to give you an interesting information about a bird called Red-throated Diver.
Status of this bird: It is widely spread around the world.
Vocal sound:
They don’t produce sound. There sound is only heard in the breeding season which is rapidly repeating sound, it may be:Evocative.
Goose like call.
Deep and rhythmic quacking in flight.
Behaviour of bird:
It is noticed that they are shy and get nervous easily.Bird’s length:
It ranges between 53-69 cm.Wingspan is 110cm.
Habitat of Red-throated Diver:
They breed on coastal pools of northern sites of overwinters near the coasts.They swim slowly in the water and having a shag like appearance during swimming. During swimming their head and bill have tilt in upward direction. They have red eyes.
In breeding season, the throat of both sexes is red. They have white and black strips or grey head and neck. Back of their body are dark brown and white underparts.
In winter, the upper parts are grey with white speckling on the back and white underparts. Interestingly their face and throat are seeming to be very white in a very good light.
