3 easy tricks to increase your daily productivity

in #life7 years ago

This is a pretty busy month for me, so I might not have much time to make posts. That being said, I wanted to make a quick post about the importance of your morning routine. One thing that successful people have in common is that the good majority of them have morning routines that they practice every day.

Before going to work or anything else, they prime their bodies and minds for about an hour to be ready for the day. Some of them are a little more quirky, such as Tony Robbins’ method of jumping in a hot tub and cold water to shock his body, but there are some really easy tricks you can implement on a daily basis to improve your productiveness.

1. Chug a glass of ice water when you wake up

Your brain is roughly 75% water making water necessary for your body to operate on a daily basis. After not drinking for 7-8 hours you’ll likely be dehydrated, but drinking a glass of water immediately after you wake up will help to rejuvenate your body. Studies have shown that the benefits of drinking a glass of water range from an increased metabolism, eating less throughout the day, and feeling less sluggish. Some studies have even compared drinking a glass of ice water immediately after waking up to drinking a glass of coffee.

 2. Exercise in the morning

Exercising in the morning is one of the most underrated things that you can do. Exercise is good for your health in general, but when you do it in the morning it creates many additional benefits. For several hours after exercising your body will have more fuel as your metabolism increases. Exercising also releases dopamine throughout your body which are chemicals that cause you to be happy. You also get the same effect when you eat chocolate, but exercising is a positive catalyst for this chemical rather than an often detrimental.

I personally have benefited greatly from exercising in the morning. I often struggled to exercise, as after a day’s activity I would feel very lethargic and create excuses to get myself out of exercising. I would say that I have to eat after exercising, but already ate for the day, or would have to shower, and have already showered for the day. Studies have shown that your drive decreases throughout the day and is at its highest when you wake up. By exercising with my morning routine, I was able to take care of my normal excuses and get the exercise done.

3. Eat a healthy breakfast

You’ve probably heard of this one before. Breakfast is truly the most important meal of the day. After a full night of sleeping you have likely gone 10-12 hours or more without food. Your body needs nutrients to replenish your energy and ability to do your daily tasks. Professionals recommend that breakfast is the largest meal of the day, lunch the second largest, and dinner the smallest meal. The best breakfast is one that has a variety of good fats, carbs and proteins.

Your morning routine is one of the most important things you do every day. A great routine can invigorate energy levels, promote healthy eating habits, and increase productivity. A lackluster routine on the other hand can lead to inefficiency, negative eating habits, and a lack of energy. I hope that you can use these three methods to improve your morning routine. I can personally attest that I could see differences in my daily energy levels, diet, and productivity in a few weeks after starting these habits.

I had heard of the water thing in the morning, but didn't know the reason behind it. May give it a try!

Thanks for posting this. I'm reading it quite late at night... so I'll go to bed now so I can get up in the morning. :-)

Haha good call!
