Awesome treat + Awesome book = Awesome day!!!

Here, sharing another typical Filipino treat! 😉 This is called Puto Seko. Puto means rice cake and Seko was derived from the Spanish word Seco meaning dry. Hence, Puto Seko is sort of a dry rice cake. Most of the rice cakes are made soft, so this one is quite unique. This is another affordable treat that many Filipinos enjoy. Without the label, at first look, I may have thought it's Polvoron (it's another Filipino snack made of powdered milk and butter) because it's wrapped in wax paper and has similar plain creamy white color and powdery texture. Puto Seko also comes in different color and flavors like light green for buko pandan and purple for purple yam flavor.

One of you might think, what Puto Seko tastes like? Well, it's moderately sweet like most other rice cakes. When you chew it, it gives a delighful crunch and surprisingly melts like cake icing in your mouth or a bit similar to meringue cookies. Soooo..delicious.

Puto Seko is made of cornstarch, sugar, margarine/butter, milk and egg. I haven't tried cooking my own Puto Seko yet but I know for sure this is fun and easy to make.

I've been reading this book lately and each pages are getting more interesting. These excepts are really sweet! =)

Indeed, the love we give away is the only love we can keep.

There's a moment in our lifetime that we meet a special soul that leads us to a better direction, gives us new hope and a more meaningful purpose in life, one who makes us see the world more clearly  than we ever did before.

With much love from Cebu,
