Maybe there was...but no, I just saw your comment and it's totally why I'm into this whole thing: basically, there should be no laws unless it's to do with physically harming someone (ok, maybe I exaggerate slightly!).
It's all about people have a free choice to do what they want: if I want to throw all my money at some crazy thing (ahem, steem lol), then that's entirely my business; likewise gambling; likewise buying whatever weird substance even though in practice I don't; likewise freedom of speech; likewise people being their own bank; etc.
This this is what block chain technology is bringing to the world hopefully.... provided the powers that be don't try to fight against it too much!

Thanks Sophia! I had a cat of that name, she was the penultimate to pass, at 16. She was so sweet, she was like a "familiar" (which I learned in Dungeons and Dragons many years ago -- and more recently, read that "familiar spirits" are to be avoided, in Scripture, but anyway); she slept with me, by my side with my hand on her back, and when I'd roll over I'd keep my hand on her to indicate I'm not getting up, and she'd stay there. She'd lick my fingers, as well. Such a wonderful dear, thanks for the memories.
