Hello dear people on Steemit!
I am really glad my account got approved here.
For the beginning of my blog, I will tell you guys and girls a little bit about myself.
My name is Ivan, and I come from a small country called Croatia. It is located in Europe right next to Italy. I grew up in the oldest city if my country called Nin. It is really not a big city, Nin has around 1000 people, and it was promoted to the status of a city because of the history that it has in the background. In my next post I will write a little bit about it.
My life started on the day of 9th of August in the year of 1993. My mom told me that I gave her the hardest birth that she had (I have two other sisters). I was really giving her a hard time because I had very big fingernails and I scratched her from the inside with them (sorry mom).
My family is very strict and conservative when it comes to parenting, I always got beaten for the dumb shit I did. Then as kindergarden passed, I started going to the gradeschool in Nin, there were only 25 of us in the class. I was always the outsider in the class, and didnt have a lot of friends. Getting bullied was a routine for me for the rest of my time in the gradeschool.
This is my old school. A lot of negative, but also some positive memories
On my dads side, he had 6 brothers and sisters, most of them didnt talk to each other, because my grandfather had alot of land and everyone wanted the bigger piece of it. And by coincidence, from the second grade till the fourth, my teacher was my aunt and she really really didnt like me. I was always underrated by her and bullied because of her.
As life continued, I started gaining some friends, and I finally got out of that nightmare called gradeschool. I signed into the technical school of Zadar, as a electronics technician. In that time i was playing alot of video games, mostly FPS shooters and racing, zero girls because i was protecting my virginity with video games and junk food. In the second year out of four, the best day of my life till now happened, I got a job as a kiteboarding instructor! AWESOMEEEE!
My home spot in Nin
After that day everything started to change, I met a dude named Garrick from South Africa, who came here to live with his wife from Croatia. He is the most awesome person I have ever met and I really look at him as a father that I never had. My real dad was a taxi driver, always pissed on the whole world and a big pessimist. He always had something to say, and every little thing that he didnt like, he would complain and complain and complain... So we never had a real father-son relationship, wich is very sad. But that is life.
Me and Garrick were working together in the kiteschool, and with time I advanced to a kiteboarding instructor. There wasnt so much time for practice because we had a lot of work on windy days. But I still managed to learn it :D . Summers passed, high school finished and I signed in the Faculty of Engineering in Rijeka. Rijeka directly translated river to english , and thats the mecca for students in Croatia. There is so much different music, and people like nowhere in Croatia.
My first years in college i was drinking and smoking weed, having fun with friends, and of course because of that, I wasnt the best student out there. But I didnt really care about it. In Rijeka I met my first real girlfriend, and there is a romantic story behind it.
I was piss drunk on a station at about 3 in the morning, waiting for the bus to go home. I was all alone by myself and then she came on the station. Natural blonde hair and green eyed, small and sweet, she looked gorgeus. She asked me if the 102 bus passed, and I said that I am also waiting for the bus. Small talk and some 20 minutes later, we realized that the bus will not come, and that we are living in the same part of the city, so we took a long walk together to home :D
Rijeka has the biggest stone stairs in Croatia, they lead up the hill called Trsat, where we lived. There are around 600 stairs and they lead to a church on top of Trsat.
I really liked her as a caracter, she was smart, funny and understood almost every struggle I had. But the relationship came to a stop because of distance when she needed to go back home, about 400 km away from Rijeka. So it got pretty difficult to hold that relationship. After we broke up, for sometime I felt like shit, but then I started to take some exercise and tought that depression was not a solution. I didnt want to cry like a little baby. I needed to man up. It really helped and I gained alot of self confidence, and I was feeling a lot better.
After college I moved to the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, in the hope of finding a job as an engineer. But currently I am working as a Call center agent. Shittiest job ever and I am currently writing this from work. haha :D
I made my story a bit shorter, but in my next posts I will write some details and my experiences, pictures of kiteboarding, and my dwelling trough the concrete jungle.
Because this is my first post, I hope that some people will like it, and some people will not, I will take any criticism what do I need to do better.
Stay positive, Ivan from Croatia! :)
