Giving someone your word... I think in some circles and communities this still holds a lot of value.

Personally if I give someone my word on a topic, or say I am going to do something, there's a 99% chance that that something will happen. I say 99% because there is that 1% of something that is totally on accountable for.

However I think the vast majority of people don't feel this way, perhaps because they are not well-versed in time management, or perhaps because they just don't care... Whatever the reason it's sad that we can't take someone on their word any more. I've been burned a few times by people promising stuff and not delivering... Doing one do a contract with them, then follow up on suing them if they don't follow through... Not so much... That is just a lot of hassle and it sad that we have to use contracts instead of just the solid handshake.
