This is really a heart touching post,sorry for the disappointment and its good you were not badly affected as you had seen/felt the signs.
It is good you were strong and knew and went for what you wanted.
Most times we guys give that excuse of time,not ready when in actual.We use those excuses so that we do not heart your feelings.
It is rude for me to say i am not interested in marriage or engagement,it takes mature guys to say it in a polite way.
I have also realized that most people get pressured into marriage by religion,parents etc.
People think you have to b married at a certain age!
I like your strength and courage for confronting him to tell you the truth.
