I run to the euphoria
I lose myself in the ways of the flesh
I like to forget my troubles
I run and I hide,
Duck and dodge the truth
The truth behind my mistakes
But in the end I am the burden
I run to my euphoria
I smile and laugh
Awkwardly have conversation,
Trying to lose myself in someone else
Until I become them and become engulfed in their ways
Engorged in their filth
Becoming the rough when I was truly the diamond
This is my truth as the day is long
I am the mistake that got us here
I am the enabler
When I lay down to close my eyes
My deepest dreams are the ones I don't want to wake up from
I honestly feel the drift and I like it
I'll rather stay in the drift than be a burden...
Amazing! This is very relatable. We often find ourselves lost in our dreams, and tend to find escapism from the burden of the world in them. I really loved the line 'Engorged in their filth' as it shows your disgust in humanity and people's ways. It's just perfect. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. :)
PS: If you are interested and have some spare time, I have some poetry on my blog too.
Thank you, I appreciate the comment and I'll check your stuff out as well.
No problem. You are very welcome! Thank you! :)
