False Motivation Creates Real Motivation
Today I wanted to cover a subject called “false motivation.” False motivation is the act of acting like you are motivated but key word is acting. Why is this even a subject worth covering? Well let me tell you.
False motivation and acting like you are motivated to accomplish a task, can actually lead you to believe you are actually motivated. Not only that, showing you are motivated with enthusiasm, can become contagious to your seniors, peers, and subordinates alike. This can achieve you or your group of co workers to accomplish a task in a timely matter to a specific standard.
I have witnessed, as well as experienced this act of false motivation being successful. My company was given a specific task that nobody wanted to do. One guy acted enthusiastic about getting this task done, and was so enthusiastic about this task, it was pretty much sarcastic in which the way he was motivated. Pretty soon everyone started to pick up on this false motivation that it spread throughout the company. We started to accomplish our task at a much, much faster rate to the standard. It was almost like we were actually motivated to accomplish this task. It was odd.
This act of false motivation works best in a group. This can create humor, in which it makes work not so much of a drag. Time goes by faster, and you can get your work done a lot quicker than if everyone was “dragging their feet.” Therefore the sooner you get your job done, the quicker you can leave and go home. Otherwise, you might be stuck at work after hours until you get your tasks done for the day. If your tasks weren’t done to standard, your boss might make you stay or restart until it is done to the standard.
I challenge you to try this false motivation approach. At least try it out. What can it hurt? You might find it useful. It could make you look good in front of your boss, peers, and subordinates, leading you to possibly get promoted faster. We all want more money right? Well do something that makes you stand out!
