Whenever I think of aging, a line from Lorde's song tiled "Ribs" comes to mind when she said "It feels so scary getting old". To be honest, it feels scary sometimes. One major factor people consider when they think of getting old is the wrinkles on their faces and skin even though the internal organs which are even more crucial in determining how long we live are also aging. But then, is it not often said that "Out of Sight is out of mind"? The thought of how the once smooth and beautiful skin will become wrinkled is one that sends chills down our spines. I guess that there is this perception of good health that we feel as humans when we have a good skin. This is one of the reasons this subject has attracted a lot of interest from researchers.
Scientists have been working on methods to keep us all from aging. They have even come up with numerous cosmetic or aesthetic procedures that use 'safe' scientific therapies. In fact [Ganceviciene et al. (2012)] published an article to review the most important anti-aging strategies that dermatologists have nowadays in hand, including including preventive measurements, cosmetological strategies, topical and systemic therapeutic agents and invasive procedures.
There have been so many anti-aging strategies proposed by over the years. Sierra Bright [2] took time to enumerate 13 tips she calls the "best home remedies for reducing wrinkles": Say "No" to soap, Don't overwash, exfoliate wisely, hydrate with healthy oils, have some high-quality protein, get your vitamin C, avoid cigarette smoke, wear a hat, invest in glasses, sleep on your back, enjoy some dark chocolate, add more tumeric to your meals and No. 13 , cut back on sugar. We may choose to play by these rules and many others, but guess what? We will still have those wrinkles as we age. It is even fair enough to employ these natural remedies to avoiding wrinkles. What is worse is applying chemicals which in the end bring upon us health problems that would make us wish we live with the signs of aging instead.
I understand that while aging is natural it can be subdued in some way. My point is in an attempt to look young even as we age let us be careful about the methods we employ regarding this because no matter how hard we try we will still age and have those wrinkles. The solutions to the marks of old age are as good as the simple reason that no one can remove the wrinkles nor stop the clock's aging process.
