Hello, guys! Today I’ll tell you a story about an important part of my life, a little friend who accompanied me for more than 10 years at all times, his name was Oreo (yes, like the cookie)
I have always been an animals lover, I think they are a sample of how amazing nature is and they are also a great company that teach you to love, protect, care and many values such as loyalty and responsibility. We adopted him a few days after his birth, he could even fit in the palm of my hand.
We decided to call him Oreo because it looked just like the cookie, an intense black color with a white spot on the middle of his chest. Since he was little he was very playful and attached to the family, during the early hours of the morning he used to wake up crying to ask for food, just like a baby.
Time passed and we grew together, he jumped for joy every time I came home and didn’t like when we were separated. He never enjoyed sleeping in the patio, he always slept inside the house since he felt more secure being close to us, his family.
Oreo proved to be a faithful support to the whole family, was the faithful companion of my grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer's, was always at her side, even when he went to the bathroom with her, as a firm guardian who wanted to protect at all times, he did not like that strangers would approach her because he felt they wanted to hurt. This meant a great lesson for everyone in the family.
While he was getting older, he was losing his abilities, he was not so active, he partially lost his vision until reaching the point of blind completion, he tripped over furniture and walls and this saddened us, because his state of health had been declining lately.
In the middle of last year, Oreo got very sick, he had cancer and a skin disease which caused him a lot of discomfort, the treatments were not effective anymore so we had to make a very difficult decision, put him to sleep forever and avoid his suffering. There I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends, with whom I hope to meet again one day.
Pets and animals represent something important in life, they deserve much care and love and will teach you great values for life. They are excellent partners, I think that humans have a lot to learn from them. Thanks for reading, see you next time!
