Yesterday, which was Monday, we celebrated a Family Day in Canada, but it wasn't always like that. I don't think many countries are celebrating Family Day or have not even heard about it.
Family Day is a way to celebrate the importance of families and family life to people and their communities.
This holiday supposed to reflect the values of family and home, and give the workers the opportunity to spend more time with their families.

Family Day first was introduced in the province of Alberta, Canada in 1990 and it is celebrated now, as a statutory holiday on the third Monday of February in Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick.
In British Columbia, Canada, (where I live), the Family Day falls on the second Monday of February and it has been celebrated as of year 2013.
I think this is a great day to be celebrating since I really think people seem to forget the family values and how important they are, since we are always working so hard and running around that we forget sometimes just to enjoy the day with family. Put work and everything aside and enjoy.

WAYS TO CELEBRATE FAMILY DAY
On Family Day, many people plan on taking part in outdoor or indoor activities with their whole family. Many families enjoy the walks in nature, visiting parks, skating on outdoor ice rinks, going out for dinners or enjoying them at home, visiting art exhibitions, going to watch a movie, going to a swimming pool, taking part in craft actitivies and usually the communities plan some special public events (sometimes for free or at a cheaper price) since some families can't afford to take their kids out to these activities which is a wonderful thing.

February is usually pretty cold, so hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies are a very popular snacks during this day.
Our house was actually pretty full this whole long weekend since we had family visiting from Vancouver and a friend from Kamloops, so we had a great family weekend spend together laughing, enjoying homemade delicious food (a lot of it).
We also had a chance to enjoy the beautiful outdoors few times this weekend, in the amazingly beautiful, bright sun, even though the breeze was pretty cold but it was still a lot of fun and just to see the sun again for the whole weekend was a bonus.
I love this idea of Family Day, because this is the most important thing in life and like I said, with our busy and crazy lives, we sometimes can't make the time just to enjoy and just love on our families and loved ones.
I have always made time for my family and we always used the weekend especially Sunday, just to relax and put 100% of our time into family fun day, so really this Family Day is just something we have always done in my family, but like I said many families don't have the opportunity to do that because they are too busy working etc.

We also had a chance to enjoy @joordanzzz amazing soccer game, where we (Penticton) was playing against one of the best if not the best Kelowna's team and the boys were 18 years of age, while our boys were 16 years old and few 17 years old, but what a great game that was and the boys did amazingly great by beating Kelowna 12-8 and @joordanzzz scoring 2 goals.

Our church and school celebrate Family Day every year and it's always a grand day for everyone. I believe it's a very important event to get the family together for some fun and activities to share with.
In times like these that parents are always busy with work and children with school, a Family Day is a welcome break from the hustles of life where we put aside time solely for this day.
