When Things Don't Work Your Way.

in #life3 years ago (edited)

My husband and I were running a fast growing and successfull Kickboxing Club in Prince George. My husband has been in martial arts since he was 10 years old.

He was a one of the best amateur boxers in Canada and then had few pro fights, until his elbows gave up on him, which was the end of his boxing dream. But his love for boxing and kickboxing is still in him.

If you ask me, I would definitely say that he is the best boxing/ kickboxing coach there is, but not because he is my husband, but I've seen what he can make the worst fighters win the fights. And not just the fights, but also win the best fighters of the turnaments.

His name was known in British Columbia, from his boxing and for his coaching, which all kind of MMA fighters, boxing and kickboxing fighters would ask him to train them privately.

Since I've met him in 1991, I also got into martial arts, since I have always wanted to learn it, but never had the chance/circumstances to do it, until then.

My husband coached me and with my first fight, I won 3 trophies, (beating the BC champion) one for winning the fight, second for the best female fighter trophy and third, for the best overal fighter of the turnament trophy, (the Salmon Boy Trophy) thats how good of a coach he is.

We both loved boxing and kickboxing and still do. We also taught our boys kickboxing when they were younger, but they had their own dreams to follow, even though they were really good at it and liked it too.

We even taught kickboxing to quite few small kids and teenager in our neighborhood in El Salvador for a while in our garage/gym, until we had to move back to Canada. We didn't charge anything for it, we just loved teaching.

When we lived in Penticton, we tried to ooen a club, but the prices for rent were redicules expensive, and when we actually found a decent place, and were ready to take over it, the real estate person who was in charge would not return our calls, no matter how many times we phoned and left messages. Just could not get hold of him or his partner.
I guess it wasn't ment to be, which was good because eventually we ended moving from Penticton.

Now, right before Covid, we were going to open up the kickboxing club here in Surrey, after we found a fantastic deal, which looked so promissing, but the same thing happened, it didn't go through, which was dissappointing, but we also thought, its probably for a reason.

Thank God for always watching over us and directing our steps, because if we did open the club, which was supposed to be in January 2020, we would have lost all the money we would have put into fixing the place and getting a boxing ring and all the equipment, because in March Covid took over our lives.

This is what the place looked like and it needed a lot of cleaning up and setting / fixing, but the size, the price and the location were perfect.
I still have the pictures on my phone.

Now. The lesson is learned. When things do not work out the way you plan or when you plan for them to happen, do not get frustrated and know that God has a better plan for us and to trust Him and His timing.

Maybe our destiny is to open the club in El Salvador, which we always wanted to do, and will try when we get there.

Thank for listening and have a wonderful weekend everyone.

I am a great supporter of @familyprotection who is working very hard to help the families stay together and this project is the most amazing project that I would suggest for everyone in this hive community to check it out and support it and by doing it we are helping people in need who are trying to keep their kids safe from being taken away (kidnapped) by the Social Services. You guys definitely dodged a bullet there. A lot of people have really suffered from the pandemic and those who started a business just before I feel really sorry for it is just very unlucky not something anyone could have anticipated

I know. I guess things happen for a reason and I truly believe that, even when we go through a loss, which is so hard and my heart goes up to all those people who have lost so much, especially during this time, but I strongly believe, by my own experience that it all works out and that God is still in control, no matter what we are going through.

I also think that in the end things have a tendency to work out . Let’s just hope this is the last part of the pandemic and that we can move on from here

Thank you for sharing this. Yes, God will let everything works out in the end.
Hope that one day He will give you the desires of your heart.

Awe. Thank you very much @hope777 for your lovely comment and I wish you the same, because God is always in control and everything is possible with God, especially when He is yhe one who put our desires in our hearts.

Amen❣️

Are you considering moving back to El Salvador now that their President has stood up against covid-related mandates?
It has made me think of going back to El Salvador and bringing my husband and children (who have never been to Central America).
For now, we are waiting it out in Canada -- and it is starting to look hopeful FINALLY that these destructive mandates will end now that Canadian Truckers are standing up for us!!

Yes, Linda. We are ready to leave as soon as the borders let us and yest it is looking very hopeful with the truck convoy. So proud of them.

Its so funny, because my husband just said to me last night" I bet you the Coconut Lady (meaning you, 😁 ) will also move back to El Salvador.

That would be so cool, if both of us are there and we can meet each other and our families.

Wow @canadian-coconut I saw that on the internet about the truckers. It sounded like the French Revolution. Hope they get you free❣️

We are also thinking about moving to El Salvador from Russia. Crazy shit is going on here as well. I'm learning now about the country to be sure choosing the right place. It will be good if you update us about the situation there and what you learned. I get to know that there are not that safe places there, that's why we have to choose carefully.
