Me, too. And in these increasingly informal times I am in love with formality. There is a huge lack of it in today's society that I think a lot of people crave.

I so agree...need to have you over for dinner just to use my mom's china :)

Sounds great. What pattern is it?

You are the aficionado sweet girly, I have no idea...just think it is pretty! we used to go to the Bahamas a lot for labor day or memorial day many years ago when I was a little girl and she would always get a new place setting while there as I guess it was less expensive...It is ivory with gold trim..The gold trim has a swirly design...She also bought it at Jordan Marsh, probably before your time.
Have a great day!

That sounds gorgeous. I love ivory with gold color pattern. What a luxury - not only a vacation in the Bahamas, but coming back with beautiful dishes. I'm going to look up Jordan Marsh.

oh let me go get the pattern....be right back! ok Minton/Buckingham...These things took on so much more ceremony 50 years back...now hardly anyone collects china...i have some cleopatra i bought at a auction we like to go to ...to add pieces as they were close enough and cheap...got extra serving pieces for a song...I had to divide mine with my sister...years ago. :) Fun stuff!

Thanks! I remember people when I was a child talking about china. My mother rebelled against being a housewife and against everything her mother was into - like china - so I didn't really experience this at home. I'll go check out Minton, Buckingham and Cleopatra.
