I was looking for something for my son's 16th birthday present.
Funds are a lil tight, so I knew that I couldn't afford 90% of what I'd like to buy for him. He's a really great kid, never asks for a thing, works hard in school and just really deserves to be spoiled now and then.
Now we are both really into video games. In fact, we make video games together and I've in the past bought him some retro systems and games for holidays.
It occurred to me that I could maybe find a cool system somewhere online and be able to stay in my budget.
I checked the usual suspects, eBay etc...with no luck. I then made my way to an app called Let Go.
After about 20min, I was still coming up empty, until I happened across a posting that was only 34 minutes old.
A guy had listed a collection of retro consoles and games for $150.
The display picture was awful...it was 2 stuffed plastic bins and you couldn't tell what was in them. The description also gave no assistance, the guy literally just said "2 bins of vintage video game stuff".
I decided to give him a call. I figured with two full bins, there had to be something worthwhile in there.
The guy was pleasant enough, apparently he had purchased a storage bin for a bunch of tools and was simply unloading everything else. He told me he had no idea what was in the box. I asked him if he'd take $60 for everything and he said sure, if I could come pick it up today. He also told me that for $60 I couldn't have the bins they were in and he would just put everything into garbage bags for me.
It was about a 25min drive, so I told him I was on my way and I hopped in the car.
The excitement was building as I got closer. I had no idea what I was buying, but for $60 I knew I couldn't go wrong.
I arrived at his house, gave him the money, put the bags in the trunk and sped off for home.
I felt like a kid on Christmas. Even though this was going to be a gift for my son, simple fact is, it's going to be hooked up to my TV and I'll be enjoying whatever we got as much as he would.
I pulled in the driveway and raced indoors.
I began pulling stuff out of the bags...and within seconds I was shitting my pants!
I had struck a fucking gold mine!
This is gonna be one hell of a birthday present!
As the picture above shows, everything is now laid out on his bed for him to find later tonight!

Wow dude, nice find. Earthbound for SNES basically pays for the whole lot. There's a lot of great titles in there, hopefully your kid enjoys it!

Epic find! Stack Up alone is worth 6 times what you paid for the whole collection. This gives hope to fellow collectors that finds like this are still possible.

Sheesh! What a find!!! My business partner and I have been collecting retro consoles for a few years now, we're getting together a pretty good library of retro madness. We like to play them on down time or use as reference when game developing. EPIC BIRTHDAY PRESENT!
