Wise sayings from the Wiset King Introduction

I hope all is well. As promised, I am starting a series of blog about 'Wise Sayings from the Wiset King to ever live.'

Introduction

In my pre introduction post, I had mentioned that King Solomon was the wiset King to ever live.

He was the son of King David who had an affair with Bethsehab. In the first instance, Bethsehab got pregnant, but the child died.

However, Bethsehab conceived again, and she named him Solomon.

Before David died, He gave Solomon a charge... he said, "be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man"

Solomon was about to take on a huge responsibility on his soldiers to lead the children of Israel - the people of God.

Therefore, David told Solomon in essence time to put away the childish things. Be a man, be strong, be viligant be wise. This is no time for games; you're about to take on the most important task in the whole world at this moment.

How Did Solomon Become So Wise

One night while King Solomon was sleeping - God appeared to him in a dream, and God said, "Ask what I shall give thee." I Kings 3:5

Solomon responded, "Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?"
I Kings 3:9

You can read the full response in I Kings 3:6-9. I am trying to keep these posts not so lengthy.

Hence, Solomon's response please God, and God granted him wisdom.

God said, Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. I Kings 3:12

God's response tell us that there was never going to be another one as wise as King Solomon on earth.

History has recorded all the deeds of Solomon and all the wise sayings that he wrote.

We are going to study his wise sayings and learn from them. I always believe the best way to learn is from some one that is more wiser and more experienced than you.

Who was King Solomon and What did he write?

King Solomon ruled the nation of Israel from 971-931 B.C. He was the only king of Israel where there is no war for Israel. God granted them peace with their enemies.

King Solomon is also known for building the first temple in Israel. Many scholars today study the text to draft up how the temple would have looked like.

For the text do indicate a very beautiful and lavish temple that was built.

He also built many houses, vineyards, parks, and public works.

Solomon did many other acts, but we will get into more about in as I go along in the posts.

He wrote the book of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon.

The book that we will be looking at is called in the Hebrew Bible is the "The Proverbs of Solomon."

In the Holy Book, it is called, "Proverbs."
