This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness. - Dalai Lama
The feeling of helping to those who are badly in need is certainly rewarding, as we know we have made a difference (even a tiny one) in their lives. Helping is one of the most beautiful things in this world and in the existence of human beings. This is something that we all need to cultivate most especially towards children.
Kindness in the Family (especially for Filipino people)
For ordinary Filipino people, the culture of close-family ties automatically makes them kind to each member of the family. It is a part of their being, an innate character. For instance, the eldest child helps his parents financially once he has secured a job. He takes part in helping his siblings to finish their studies before settling down.
Some families, the elder brother or sister will take the responsibility as a provider, most especially if their parents never attain a degree. They work as much as they could prioritizing the family in helping them and sometimes giving up their personal needs.
That is one commendable act of sacrifice and I must say it is incomparable to other races. Kindness in the Filipino family is more than obvious and one-of-a-kind.
Kindness in Friends
Every now and then, our friends need our support, may it be financially or emotionally. We are there with them without any single doubt to give a hand to each of them as much as we could, as we value our friendship with them. We believe that it is just a total heartlessness or insensitiveness if we never could spare a single act of kindness to these valuable people. We come and help them with wide arms open.
That is how we express our love to our friends, especially if they are dearest to us. We can never fail to make them feel that they are valued and that they matter to us. And that is what real friendship is, no absence of kindness.
Kindness in Random
We walk down the street, see those homeless people and witness random individual showing their generosity to those kind of people - buying them food or clothes. It's beautiful and hopeful to know that this world has never run out of people who still care about the forgotten ones in the society. Yes, we are the ones who create our destiny but sometimes those homeless people ended up with no choice. As much as they avoid that kind of situation, but they have been drowned terribly to that unfavorable circumstance and that they become hopeless. For sure all of them wish or hope to get away from that burden.
By showing kindness to them, we can change their lives somehow, someway. The next time we see them, let us do something worthwhile. Who knows our single act of kindness is the answer of their long pleas from up above.
Let's make kindness a universal language.
