If you were an open book, how many pages, sentences or words would you leave out when telling your story?
When meeting new people, we often hide things about ourselves that we aren’t proud of. We try to put our best foot forward, and pretend that the hardships and mistakes we have made in the past don’t exist. There’s no reason to be ashamed of these things or hide from them when we start making a new life for ourselves. Be at peace with your past, not in hiding from it.
Who you were is irrelevant to your life today. Yes, it may impact it and have greatly changed the course of your future. But when you are making progress to start again, the only way to truly move on is to take the power away from your past. By blaming things on the mistakes we made, or the things we experienced in our past, you are giving the person you used to be power over the one you want to be.
All that matters now is who I am, you put the power and importance on who you will become. The focus of becoming a new person isn’t about what you can’t change, its about what you can change. What Iv’e found is that having bad things happen to you, and doing the wrong things in the past doesn't make you damaged. It makes you stronger. And that is the person you should show to the people in your life. You don't have to tell people who you were. You just have to show them who you are.
You should always give new people a chance, and that includes the new person you want to become.

I have a lock on my book cover,
and only a few close family and friends get to read the contents.
I am learning to open it up more, hence being a part of Steemit, but there will always be secrets as the past can be confusing to those that don't understand, and in someplace around the world the past can be dangerous to you in the present.
I acknowledge your comments.!!
