It's funny how the snow on my patio table resembles a cake. I was just thinking how we are having a normal snowy December -- that's compared to about the last 10 years where our winter has been slowly disappearing, well, it has been starting later and ending sooner. It's enough that in 2013, MacLeans Magazine had a cover story about the winter that almost never was.
And it's odd how people forget. Even in Canada, where it's said we often talk about the weather more than most -- and I'm pretty sure it's because we have so much of it -- I have friends who haven't noticed the shorter winters. It isn't until I remind them of all the first big snowfalls of our childhood, typically on Halloween, and how costumes had to fit over snowsuits. Then they remember! More recently, our snow has been starting in December. By the way, the snow really doesn't get underway until January.
Yikes. we dont get much snow here in Blythe Georgia area.

Grew up in Milwaukee WI, currently living in Santa Maria CA.. I don't miss the snow one bit and I haven't had to shovel in 9 years lol
I was raised in the country in a snow belt. The school bus stopped 1/2 mile away. When I graduated high school, I swore I would never spend another winter in Canada. We don't shovel much because we have snow removal services now. We ALL have them! Smartest move I ever made!
