Uhhhhh.. I guess I won't be the person to give you the cheerfull thoughs on this that will make you walk away happily. I also believe that we are just a bit of the more sophisticated forms of animals who have the ability to think and percept, but we are still just animals.
On that perspective thinking on what will be after death, I guess the same as before birth...whatever that may be (not a lot I guess)
Thinking about these things make my head spin a bit always, I guess that is why there is this mental defense system of your brain just not thinking about these things too much because you can not comprehend it.
On thinking what the meaning of life then in... Yeah, jsut being humble, set some good examples, be a likely person. One that later on people say about...' ah yeah...she was a nice person who always had the best intentions on everything'. I guess that is enough right?

Yes, true, but in theory also other animals than Homo sapiens could have a soul and a life after death. :-)
