Welcome to Café Del Sol! Located in the heart of Los Alamitos, CA is this family-run diner with vast menu options that are sure to please. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.
They are open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, and on Sundays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
We had the pleasure of meeting music producer, artist, and co-owner, Rudy Cobian. He is a very driven and motivated young man with a big heart. We actually had a fascinating conversation with him.
You can find Café Del Sol at 3251 Katella Ave, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. And they even deliver too.
If you stop in for breakfast, you can enjoy specialties like the huevos rancheros, steak & eggs, and chorizo omelette.
Their menu items range from salads and sandwiches to burgers and dinner plates. They have it all!
Some of their salads include albacore tuna, black angus rib eye, and chicken caesar.
Their sandwiches are over the top and range from BBQ steak to black angus steak and club.
If you're craving a burger, you'll love the chiliburger, mushroom & Swiss, and double cheeseburger.
When it's dinnertime, you'll want to indulge in the steaks, pork chops, and fish plates.
With sides like onion rings and refried beans, you can't go wrong.
And my personal favorite are their Mexican plates which include everything from fajita quesadillas and wet burritos to carne asada plates and shrimp rancheros.
If you have the appetite, they even promote a Heart Attack Challenge in which guests have five minutes to eat a massive burger with fries. If they complete the challenge, their meal is free!
And for dessert, they'll spoil you with Tres Leches cake, shakes, malts, and banana splits.
When we went there this past week, we immediately noticed this classic truck for sale in the parking lot right in front of the cafe. It was a beautiful teal color.
It was a promotional vehicle for one of the local barber shops.
With a white striped bed lining.
The owner even let us look inside.
The restaurant entrance is simplistic and petite.
With a menu set out for guests.
And a shaded sitting area.
On the inside, there is a very inviting feel with classic decor.
And a wooden front counter that gives off the traditional cafe vibe.
The decoration spread throughout was very cute and vintage.
With these suns, giving name to meaning of "del sol," which translates to "of the sun."
You'll also notice these classic trucks and cars they have set out.
And farmhouse decor.
With witty phrases.
Now that we've looked around, it's time to order.
We ordered the Frisco sandwich with a side Caesar salad. And I cannot forget the Thousand Island dressing for dipping.
The burger was cooked to medium rare with mouth-watering toppings and crunchy Texas toast.
And a pastrami sandwich with crinkle cut fries. The pastrami was covered with melted cheese and crispy bacon, which made it extra tasty.
Some might say it was the best pastrami sandwich they've ever had!
The fries were cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and soft center.
Overall, we were completely satisfied with Café Del Sol, and this is definitely our new go to spot when we are in the area. We recommend you come hungry because their staff will certainly take care of you.
