This Is How I celebrated MY ONE YEAR OF SELF EMPLOYMENT!

I was going to jump on a train to downtown and treat myself to the art museum. The planetarium then maybe I'd stop by my favorite restaurant for take out. It was important to me to celebrate 4,000 followers on Steemit and to be self-employed for a year. Both things I worked incredibly hard for, For over a year!

Last minute, My friend Denton Decided to join in; He made slight adjustments to my plans. (Which was an amazing surprise)

Sadly I didn't take any photos! I was nervous, to be honest, I'm not a very social person. And after talking to my friend for a year, I hadn't even seen him in person. Until this day! I didn't want to have my phone in front of my face the whole time. So I decided to fully enjoy the experience.

I got to try new things!

Spending time with someone new made me realize something important. It's easy to get caught up in the feeling that there isn't much more to life. That you can't experience things "like a kid" anymore. That newness feeling you get when you are clueless. I miss it. And I was able to feel that again. Everyone has different ideas on what is considered fun.

The Planetarium

The planetarium in Utah is a bit small, It's nothing too crazy exciting, to be honest. But it was refreshing to see lots of updates to it! It looks bigger and has more to it! We looked at the stuff, and we bought a ticket to see a show! They had this cool dome theater that was amazing. We watched a show on the upcoming Eclipse! Which got me more excited.

Virtual Reality!

Afterward, my friend took me to the virtual reality store so I could try it for the first time!
I was a little nervous I was afraid people would laugh or stare at me, Those headsets make people look really silly hahaha!! Clearly I was just overthinking things!
We played the bomb game, Which I suck at because when I describe things I tend to be very vague LOL! So you could see how that would end well.
" Yeah There are buttons... "
" What do the buttons look like? "
"They are white! "
" There are symbols on the buttons... "
" WHAT SYMBOLS?"
One of the games I really enjoyed was the job symulator.
I was a chef working in the kitchen, And of course I had to do stuff I shouldn't. Like try and put the tea mug into the blender, Or throw bread directly on the stove to heat it up. I even threw a flower pot onto the stove.

Then there was the art game, As an artist I was amazed by this. It's similar to that plain old paint program on your computer... But everything was 3D!!!
I could walk around my drawings, And use extremely bright paint. It was incredible.

Hibachi

We then went to a Hibachi place, Which was crazy amazing. I had never gone to a place like that before. They cooked all the food in front of us, And did tricks with it!! We got hot sake, Which was surprisingly good. Even though I am a lightweight with alcohol. The food was amazing; It was a lot of fun going new places! We were laughing a good chunk of the time! And I got the seafood meal.

What a great way to celebrate one year of self-employment and 4,000 followers on Steemit.

That sounds like a fantastic day! My friend owns a pair of virtual reality googles... and those things are amazing! Really the future of society. I haven't played the game you played.... I mostly sit through stimulation and just look around. There is this really scary one our friends like to have people sit through... and pretty much everyone screams bloody murder because it is so real! LOL

Hibachi is one of my favorite ways to eat a meal! yummy.

I agree hehe!!I love the thought of those simulation! I want to try that at some point. Wow!!! I saw those videos! Like the giant slides! I could see amusement parks being just VR, They'll be safer at least!

haha I know right.. no more broken collarbone!

I don't know if you have seen my latest video I posted, but it is of a silent disco set my friend owns. Those are pretty cool. I bet you would get a kick out of those as well :)

Yes!! And we could be nicer to the environment by taking up less space hopefully.
Checking your video out now hehe :)

Well, congrats on your first anniversary of self-employment, @kaylinart! And dare we say "another Steemit success story (at least in part). Here's hoping you have many more great years in the world of the self-employed... been here many years, and even though the going sometimes get tough... I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thank you so much hehee! I agree it can be rough at times, But it's worth it.

The art I have seen done in VR looks so promising and fun

This is just the early stages too, I can't wait to see the next generation of devices and tools.

WOW! This is incredible! I want to get more into this. I wasn't very good because it was weird to me haha!

Just wait until you see the pornography, they make them tailored for males and females! Honestly it is a weird feeling the VR, takes me back to like little set ups Disney or Universal theme parks would have on the side, or like that big Disney Quest arcade.

Which is funny because now I guess roller coasters aren't enough of an adrenaline rush, now you wear a VR piece when riding some

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to ride that out of curiosity.

WOW I would love to ride that! It looks so cool. I feel like I'd start freaking out though LOL. They will be able to do so much cool stuff with this technology.

Haha I had quite a few chances to try out VR but I didn't do it because I thought I'd look silli and everybody would laugh from me :D

I have a pair of googly eyes glued to my Gear VR. While it was worth a dollar and a trip to the craft store, I think all VR devices should just ship like this

OMG ahhahahaa!! They totally should XD That is too funny hahaha.

Hahha! I felt the same way! But I did it anyways! You should try it sometime it really is cool.

Yeah I guess I should beat my fear of looking silly in public :D

Just go out there and enjoy life @kaylinart ..and don't be scared to try a new thing!..Y.O.L.O :)

EXACTLY! hahah :)

it really looks like an good 1 year celebration , the bomb game you talked was the "Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes" ? this game is really nice \o/
I knew we could play with VR but never expected we could find it in a planetarium, it really sounds like something that worth to check it out.

Congratulation once more and I wish a even better next self employer year, that you achieve +10,000 good followers and that you keep enjoying life intensely !

Well done you for letting yourself go and enjoy the experience :)

Congrats kaylinart, you made it perfect. I wish I could reach the same status in my first year here on steemit. In fact we have something in common, i am to shy to socialized with other people.

Congrats girl, I'm so glad you treated yourself to an awesome day to celebrate your achievements over the past year! That's so cool you got to try VR - I tried it for the first time earlier this year and was also a little nervous that I would look out of place, but it was fun. It sounds like we tried the same art game based on your description... The hibachi looks delicious and like a perfect way to wrap up the day. 😋

This planetarium is awesome!

Thanks for sharing your great day :D

A relative stranger has a whole different perspective on life that you've likely never experienced. You end up doing things differently when with a stranger. You would've gotten take out, if by yourself, but Denton forced you into doing the Hibachi thing instead.

Sounds like you two had a great time. Congratulations on the way that you've taken life by neck and told it that you are in charge.

like literally forced her into the door LOL

If you can lie, you can act, and if you can lie to crazy girlfriends, you can act under pressure.

wow Very nice dear @kaylinart

Congratulations, your hard working deserves to get achievements :)

Glad you had such an awesome day out. Congratulations on subscribers and your business. Being sociable is maybe easier than you thought - - it just takes the right people ;)

Wonderful Day! So happy for you having new experiences!

Congrats on the successful year you have had!! That's amazing. And next time I need an invite for your day on the town ;) sounds like it was really fun.

I ask myself: Would I have been any worse off if I had stayed home or lived on a farm instead of shock treatments and medication?

I was at Best Buy and Playstation had a VR demo set up. It wasn't a game, but like @karensuestudios said, just looking around. I was under water, and then a shark crossed my vision. I was like "no more!".

@kaylinart

I even threw a flower pot onto the stove.

This made me smile.. Glad you had a great day.

4000 followers it is really a big big number, I am following you since I joined steemit and regularly write your posts, they attract the people and connect with them, you write on the topics which are the major concers of today's men. Really you doing a great job here. And you are trying new things like VR, Hibachi. Nice to know it.
