This was a hike I did alone. It was one I've wanted to complete for a while, But it's a bit complicated. There are two sides to the Dog Lake. You can hike it from Cottonwood or Millcreek Canyon. A friend and I attempted it a couple of years ago from the Cottonwood side, but we never ended up making it. After hours of hiking, it started to get hot and humid from the plant life. And We became exhausted and discouraged. So I decided to tackle this hike from the other side.
As the name suggests, I noticed a large number of dogs on the way up. People take their dogs to this lake to play in it.
One man had like four cute doggies. 3 Of them looked like they were from the same family.
I don't have a dog, But I enjoyed seeing everyone else pets.
The hike was rough in some areas, Mostly uphill but nothing to insane. It was by a lovely river which kept the trail cool. I always feel out of shape when I hike Because I still get a lot of people who are in excellent shape, passing me every couple of seconds. But I've been getting stronger.
When I got to the top, I was pleasantly surprised to see all the cute dogs without hesitation run and jump into the water happily. I sat and watched them for a little while.
Trails That Go Up To Peaks!
I then noticed a couple of branch off trails from the lake. I started heading towards one of the peaks. It ended up being rough though. Its hard sometimes because there are often more trails that connect to the main path. But by then you usually are so exhausted you don't even want to go further. So by that point, I turned back.
I look forward to doing this hike again soon.
The atmosphere of that forest is quite pleasant to know the surroundings besides enjoying a little outdoors! Also the Dogs looked very happy to swim in the river I love how they looked thanks for sharing these beautiful photos
That's pretty impressive nature background you captured @kaylinart. Those tree shades increase lifestyle. Seemed very cool water lakes. Nice hiking location selected already.
Thank you hehe XD I wish I could swim in the lake but it was dirty

This sounds like a demanding hike that requires one to be quite fit and strong.
I am not in the right shape to go for long strenuous hike as I used to do in the old days.
The trial looks so green and inviting without poisonous snakes like in t Asian countries. The hot and humid weather makes the hike more bearable in the winter months. That hike is safe for a lone hiker too!
