How To Become A Minimalist!

Know Why you want to change!

Figure out why you want to change! Are you tripping over junk often?
Do you want to do less shopping?
Figuring out why you want to get rid of stuff, Will allow you to maintain focus on your goals. For many people having more and more stuff isn't satisfying. It's about the experiences in life.

Get rid of stuff you haven't used in a month

Obviously, some stuff doesn't count.
But if you have things you aren't using for months and months. It's time to get rid of it, Try only to keep things you use on a regular basis. I found that I own a lot of "what if items." Items that I don't' use that collect dust, But I'm saving them for future use. It's silly. Just get rid of it, and if you start suffering badly because you do not have that item, Then you can buy it back. Many items you'll quickly forget you ever had them, and you'll be happy for the extra space.

Things for projects,
Many of us have this problem too. We want to keep things for a "project" we are working on. If you have too many projects going on at once, You aren't going to get around to all of them. Your better off just keeping items for one or two projects and getting rid of the rest.

If items don't bring value to your life, Get rid of them.

Get out of debt!

This will make it easier to make the necessary steps to minimalism.
You can start by selling your stuff, To gain extra money for your debt.
Try to cut back purchasing habits. I feel like once you clear out a good amount of clutter, you'll enjoy the space so much, You won't want it to come back. That will encourage you to avoid buying stuff. Which will give you more and more money to target your debt with.

Clear out easy stuff first

Don't clear out the hardest areas first; You will quicky get discouraged.
Instead look for easy areas. If you hate cooking. The kitchen may be the best place to start. It will be easier for you to get rid of most of your old pots and pans. Where as, If you love cooking that may sound like the most horrific thing ever.

I feel like once you get over getting rid of stuff, in general, It will be easier for you to get rid of more and more stuff with time. Just go with it! And do what you can when you can. It can be a gradual process. But it will make your life more worthwhile when you do it.

This reminded me on a show made by George Carlin where he said that our lifes are a collection of old, stuff moved from one place to another.
So in conclusion is better to just have only what we need!
PS- I really like the photo of the dog too!I totally a gree @kaylinart we have way to much stuff!

Thank you! It's so true.
That dog is my boyfriends hehehe. He's a silly dog.
