Timing your every move may seem like a ridiculous habit. But it’s quite beneficial in so many ways.
Gain Clarity
It’s easy to lose track of time. Not only that but it’s easy to be confused on what you wasted it on or how long it takes to do something. Timing yourself will give you a rough idea of how long something takes. Although to get an accurate idea you may need to. Time yourself multiple times because different factors may affect different outcomes.
It forces you to sprint
Sprinting gets results and fast. It allows you to dedicate a lot to a task, then take a meaningful rest. These bursts of work allow you get a lot more done. Have you ever bolted around the house cleaning everything? Haven't You noticed overall you got more done that day? If you time yourself, you’ll feel more rushed and that extra pressure to get things done
You’ll Know How Long To Make Your To-Do Lists
This is another one associated with clarity. Having an accurate idea of how long to make our to-do lists can be helpful. When we put too much, we may get less done and feel more burned out. When our to-do lists are too small, we may not feel challenged
It’s essential that we find a balance in everything that we do
Great advice!! My entire life is scheduled...well that's what it feels like! With 4 kids, split parenting, running a business and trying to have a life everything is on the timetable :)
WOw! That is inspiring that you do so much! Thats good you've gotten good at scheduling though.
It is a good way to accomplish much more in a shorter time, so long as you don't burn out and become unable to do so much so soon. Sometimes it is good and bad to speed up the tasks if you know what you are doing, or as long as you eat and keep healthy etc.
Exactly! You have to be careful to not burn out, Which is an issue I have myself quite often. Thats why brakes are necessary.
Every day I do my todo list, and have a rough view of the time required for the tasks, because I timed them before. Thus, I already apply what you preach.
But not for every objective, even professional. a side of me rebels. I am not sure this is the way it should be.
I managed to put myself in a professional situation where I only have commitments 3 days per week. It doesn't mean that I laze off the 4 other days.I have global objectives, but I do not have precise plans.
actually, the planning exists as I know what steps to reach to attain the objectives, but there is no temporal constraints to these. I choose objectives which are that way.
I prefer playing on creativity, thus just enjoying the process. And when I look back at what is achieved during the last year, I am amazed. So, it does works.
IMHO, for many people (not all of course), not being bound by a schedule, allows to get more done, because they are into it 100%, and not within a temporal prison.
1 step at a time, no stress, and the objectives are reached naturally.
That's it, in life time really matters a lot, it's the passage of time that makes one grows old, and that's is why it has to be spent wisely, minimized and thoroughly managed well.
An to-do list will act as a check and balance for you in other to keep up the pace in anything you do.
Amazing percepective here @kaylinart

First of all, we must realize that we are important to everything. This must be our movements and our thoughts against the outside. I told you yesterday. You have everything. With a good planning you can accomplish everything.
I repeat the same thing again.
It is very nice in sharing. I am happy to read your shares. I guess I feel I need to take care of myself. Thank you. @kaylinart

@kaylinart
Are you threatening me!? My bungole will not wait!
No my friend i'm peaceful guy :) lol @cornholio
Too often, we stuff our lists with items that we don’t need to do or which don’t need to be done today. That crowds out the more important items and might result in working longer hours unnecessarily.
Make such a list, and classify the tasks in 4 sections: Urgent + important (including important for you like having some time to rest and hobbies), urgent + not important, not urgent + important and not urgent + not important. The last category, just dismiss it, then use the 3 others to set priorities....
Balance is the key!
Exactly! balance is very important.
i am driving by montain-bike every day or a little bit walking in the city for 1-2 hours.
You have fingered your nice point.Time passes quickly The time to catch and pass is as good as we can get.thank you for sharing and sharing your thoughts with us.
@kaylinart nothing is better than being able to manage your time , i need that in my life
Keep going on your way
Great advice! Do you have any tips for keeping track of your 'timings'? Timing your life will definitely improve your planning skills to! Since I do it, I waste much less time on less important things and I do much more things I really want to do / need to do! Nice post!
Yeah, when I started timing myself a while ago, I became much more productive. I just get things done way faster and I have more time to do even more things! But yeah, we have to find a balance in everything we do :)
Excellent tips @kaylinart! Both Pomdoro Technique and Agile might be some good concepts to look into for some practical applications of breaking tasks down into more digestible tasks
i hope its a life story 's great post.....i impressed to see your post....i wish for your best of luck brother
lists are very useful. I'm certain a long list of my goals. From small steps to larger. Strike out done. It is a great motivation. I see I'm getting closer to reaching my main goal.
very interresting!
Upvoted!
Thank you
Great post @kaylinart. Also timing responsibility and accountability.
Exactly!
Actually making things in time give a sense of accomplishment and psychological ease. If we leave the things pending then it feels a sense of burden and depression starts here.
The way you put motivation among minnows like us and make our vision clear is really really appreciable. You always give motivation and worth to your readers that is why i tried to write my first ever blog today, after taking motivation from your blogs and writings. Have a look and guide me in a more better way @kaylinart :)

Stay Blessed, Steem On!
You are absolutely right we must always take a space to devote ourselves to doing what we like and passionate. Whether to de-stress or simply enjoy the life. Thanks for sharing anda hace a good day @kaylinart.
Hmm interesting concept I will have to try it out. I think you are right that it may help you better optimize your time, and in a worst case scenario it will at least show you how valuable time is by making you focus more on how long it takes to do various things (something you likely never consciously think about otherwise).
Timing ourselves helps to do things smoothly and it also gives us a feeling of success if we accomplish some of the tasks in the list.
Surprisingly everything what we do revolves around time. It never stops for anyone. It's such an abstract concept. Thank you for making me realise this thing.
Nobody should be telling you what you should be doing. There shouldn’t be a romantic figure in your life that’s constantly bossing you around, or telling you where to go and when. Nobody should be dictating who you’re allowed to hangout with or what you’re allowed to do in your free time. We try to appease the people in our lives because we worked so hard on these relationships and we don’t want to mess them up, but it’s okay to choose yourself first. @kaylinart
This is closely related to the concept of "strategy".
I am a strategic storyteller, so i know a thing of two about it. Managing and investing your resources, one of them being TIME, is key to success.
We just have one life. Waisting time should not be an option.
Thank you very much for sharing.
You very beautiful :)
Great valuable post. I've def seen reasons by paying attention to my time. Working on a personal project 1 or 2 hours per day quickly adds up.
gotcha an upvote/plz upvote my post
No
ok good luck
These daily dose of helpful tips are giving me bursts of energy. I do believe that goals must be timed, after all it is the "T" in S.M.A.R.T.
I also agree with the to-do list. We must learn how to master ourselves by knowing how many items to put in there. In the end, there should always be balance.
Timing yourself is a good tool to use. I sometimes forget that. Thanks
Helps you achieve goals! ❤️
Very inspiring article for time management.
I always love to give my self and family a quality time, it is the most important for me.
Thanks!
Knowing how much time do we spend doing things is certainly a good information in order to plan our days in the most efficient way.
Of course, some days we might be more faster than others, and if we are on a hurry state 24/7 it might cause us to burnout.
Still, knowing the optimus balance between high speed work and sustainability (because let’s face we will eventually get tired) is a great way to maintain a high level of productivity throughout our week.
Good post. Not delaying a task also belongs to one of the most productive attitudes @kaylinart. Have a nice day. Regards.
Good advise !! Keep going :)
this is nice but ave tried all to time myself and it seems not to be working i always use too much time for a particular task or i would even forget i have other task at hand
been thinking of getting am alarm watch tho to help me
Hi @kaylinart Thanks for this post. I reflected on my self and this what I realized. Perfect timing is about planning. I believe that as we aged, many more responsibilities come in our hand, so time management is one efficient way to help our self to be capable of doing many things. It so happened to me that when I gave birth to my daughter, I started to multitask. I can cook while babysitting. I can wash clothes while babysitting and while doing that, I am thinking of what to do next. I may clean the feeding bottles etc. Being a mother has taught me lot of time management.
@kaylinart I really need to clean up the house fast..........
I always have a schedule for a couple of days in advance. It keeps me productive and helps me not to forget something important.
I think that's also important to give yourself some lazy time in your plans instead of pushing yourself too hard. I think that spending some time on relaxation or hobbies (like your gardening or my tango) pays off in the long run, as it keeps us happy, healthy and motivated.
Cheers! : )
You should time yourself because all the time you can not work, it feels like boring life. So to make yourself enjoyable and happy, You should get some free time for you.
That is good advice. I'm the type of person who is chronically rushing around, almost late. I'm also a procrastinator. Time always seems to run out faster than I think it will.
Sometimes we wonder in life sometimes we fall and sometimes we get up, but it's alright it's a living guide.
Being organized it's a life goal for me =) Always trying and barely managing...Keeping it up though =) Nice post @kaylinart
