Dry brushing is kind of a weird thing I don't hear of people often doing. I decided to try it when I heard it reduces cellulite, can reduce the appearance of stretch marks. And it can help you prevent ingrown hairs!
I've been doing it for about a year now, and I LOVE IT.
What is Dry Brushing?
Your just taking a special brush. That's very dry, And gently rubbing your skin with it. It sounds easy enough.
Your skin is your largest organ, And it's important to take good care of it. Many people tend to overlook it in their skin care regimen. Would you overlook your liver if it needed help? Probably not. So don't abandon your skin.
Detoxing
Did you know that dry brushing is a great way to detox your body? Your skin removes toxins everyday. But sometimes it can be blocked by the dirt and toxins already built up. Dry brushing will clean that area of those dead skin cells and toxins so you can get your lymphatic system working better!
Exfoliating
Many of us have those exfoliating scrubs. But we just abandon the rest of our bodies? Why?
If you have acne Or skin problems, Dry brushing can help with those.
Personally, I have an issue with the way my hair grows on the back of my thighs. It gets ingrown, Then I shave, and it cuts me. Causing ugly circular scars. Since I've been dry brushing that area, I've almost eliminated the issue. It exfoliates my skin so that the hair can grow out of the skin, not back into the skin.
You may occasionally have those weird dry skin patches. Dry brushing can help gently remove those patches. So you can restore your skin to softness.
Increase Circulation
I love when I get a new brush Because you can feel the difference. It will increase your circulation!
Where to buy
You can by dry brushes almost anywhere.
I usually buy mine on Amazon here
I like the round ones better; They seem to work better.
You want to try and get one that is made of more natural materials. The one above is made from a Japanese Palm plant.
How To Do it
Like most things in life, If you want to maximize the benefit of it. It's best to do it on a regular basis.
Sometimes it can give you energy, So avoid doing it before sleep.
GENTLY go in circular motions towards your heart. Go down your arms, legs, Tummy.
Be very careful, and apply very little pressure. The first time I did it, I made the mistake of scrubbing my skin, And I ended up with so many scatches I looked like I was attacked by a tree. That's not the goal here! Haha. Avoid any extremely sensitive areas, Like your face.
Start at your feet and work your way up.
Do it before a shower. Doing it after a shower may be a bit too rough.
Take Care of your Skin In other ways too.
Dry brushing should become apart of your daily routine. But it should never replace eating healthy, Using lotions or coconut oil or drinking water.
Do all of those things so that you can have beautiful skin.
Though I am not personally involved in such an activity, many people around are and this article really underlines powerful reasons to start dry brushing for good. Thanks for all this information. Many will be empowered by this.
Namaste :)
I"m glad to hear it :) It defiantly has a lot of benefits.
This reminds me of when I first heard of "tooth powder." I dunno why, but it does. Which by the way is great for traveling.
Tooth powder? I Need to look into that I haven't heard of that LOL.
Have been doing this for quite a while and recommend it to all.... although I do love scrubs under the shower too!
You do!!!? I Haven't even done that one yet. I'll have to try it. Does the brush hold together well after being wet?
Ohh I didn't mean with the brush.... although you have scrubbing brushes you can use in the shower... I use coconut oil mixed with either old coffee grinds, granulated sugar or salt as a scrub... add some essential oils and you'll have a spa treatment on the cheap!
Good, i will check it out today
Sweet :) I Hope it helps you out!
Interesting. I will have to try this!
