Today (18.06.2017) is father’s day in many countries. But are fathers doing their roles?
Many countries including the UK and US are celebrating father’s day— which takes place on the third Sunday of June.
There are mixed stories regarding the beginning of Father’s day. Nevertheless, it does not hurt to celebrate the day in “style”, because one thing is for certain, we all need to celebrate our fantastic fathers.
The only annoying thing is that Father’s day changes dates every year, and someone can easily forget about it. Moreover, in many countries it’s not a public holiday.
In my country, people have thronged Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms with incredible father’s day messages. However, are most fathers doing their roles?
What roles should fathers play?
We are all aware that fathers are supposed to play an important role in nurturing their children from birth through adulthood. Most fathers have forgotten this role, with some thinking that their sole responsibility is providing for the needs of the family.
Many fathers spend most of their time working so hard, and forget about the emotional well-being of their children.
Always spare some time away from Steemit and your other busy schedule and spend it with your children and family. When you are a responsible father, your family will always be proud of you.
Research show that children, who spend time with their fathers in a nurturing and stimulating environment, can have new neural connections formed. These connections can influence their earning capacities in future; improve their health, ability to learn and to deal with stress.
We should therefore reduce all barriers that prevent fathers from positively interacting with their children and focus on providing children a conducive environment for them to thrive, including love, play and protection.
If your father left when you were little, would you allow him back into your life?
Many Father's are denied access to their children by the Mother and often the children grow believing a lie that was told about him and the reason he is not around. There is always 2 sides to every story -- i would give the Father in this question a chance and base my judgement on how he is now. I hope this comment is not insulting in any way -- i know it is a very touchy subject and tragedy for all involved. I am now following -David
Thank you David for your comment. Indeed, this is a touchy subject. While many fathers are denied access to their children, especially when a marriage does not work out, I still think that some fathers who do not face such limitations spend very little time providing nurturing care to their children. But in general, fathers are so cool!
