I am reading journeys out of the body now by Robert A. Monroe interesting indeed. I heard Terence Mckenna say he got a Buddhist monk to smoke DMT, he said 'this takes you to the place, where if you went any further, you would not be able to return' and you hear people speak of this 'waiting room' all the time. Even Monroe in his book speaks of a waiting room place that you can travel to as an astral projection.

I am not sure what DMT is? I will look Robert A. Monroe up, the waiting room place and astral projection both sound very inviting to read. Thank you.
DMT is a plant extract, chemical is also found in humans in smaller amounts... Di-Methyl-tryptamine. Botanist Terence Mckenna talks a lot about it. The scientist that first did experiments with it called it 'the spirit molecule'. basicaslly if you smoke it, it gives an out of body experience and people often talk to dead relatives or feel that they visit this 'waiting room' before heaven. all sorts of other very strange and unusual stuff, but yeah I remember when I came across Eben Alexander's stuff I found it fascinating as well.
