A transformer blew Sunday night while I was in the middle of cooking dinner for me and my hubby. No problemo mi amigo. We got this thing under control.
Battery operated shop light - check
candles - check
gas stove - check
fire up the fire pit - check
fire up the grill - check
battery operated music - double check
a good bottle of wine - check check check check ( I got a little carried away with the wine)
We had a candlelit dinner and enjoyed a nice bottle of wine by the fire in 95 degree weather. You just can't go opening the fridge when you don't know when the electricity will be back so it's important to keep several bottles of red wine in the disaster survival kit. You just never know when it will be needed.
BONUS: I didn't have to do laundry or any other chores that required electricity or light.
95° sitting by the fire! I'm in East Texas and I melt just going outside. We have a generator for when the power quits out here and we bunker down in our travel trailer.
Oh gosh! I wish! A generator is on our someday list but just not in the budget yet. It wasn't too bad as long as you didn't sit too close to the flames :) Might have been the wine though.
Wine can make many experiences more pleasant! We going this generator at an estate sale and got a good deal on it. My someday list is a whole house backup generator.

fan phone with hotspot and charged laptop :) and the wine sounds good
I'll have to google the fan. Sounds cool (haha see what I did there), but I probably would not have been able to find it in the dark :) We did turn on the hotspot for some tunes and surfed the web a little which helped to pass the time. The wine was awesome!
:-P i enjoyed the whiskey a little too much three four days ago hehehe i forgot i get hotter when drunk next few days not good when temps are 105+ Lol ill have to get me some wine soon
Hate to say it, but at 105+ degrees make sure you drink some water in addition to the wine (or whiskey). Stay hydrated my friend! :)
im in the ac its all goood !!! Lol but the heat drills thru the walls hahaha so makes it warmer i need icechest walls ;)
Man, we would lose so much if the power went out. We NEED a backup generator. No water if the power goes! Eeeek.
Yikes. No water is very bad. We are on a MUD so we have water in an electric outage... crappy pool water but water nonetheless. We had to get an RO filter in order to drink it in the kitchen and another filter in the shower. Makes me wonder how clean the water actually is when they need to use that much chlorine before sending it our way. I WANT a backup generator, but it will have to wait til we find our property in the boonies (not too far though...).
