According to a study by the Economic Research Service, 27% of all food production in Western nations ends up in garbage cans. Yet, 1,2 billion people are underfed - the same number of people who are overweight.
i used to work at a grocery store here in canada. near toronto. i watched carts full of food go into the garbage. enough to feed at least 100 families a day. meats, breads produce. i couldnt believe it.
hard to believe they couldnt do a better job managing thier waste. there should be closer to just enough rather than 2x what you need then half goes in garbage.
