Mind Chronicles + Senior Farewell Party+Pics+ An Epoch+ Surprise!!!(6.11.18)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

The farewell party was something we all were dreading. Not because we were this year's outgoing class and we were afraid to get teary(#blessupwaterproofmascara), but because we firmly believed that the party was going to be complete, utter disaster. We were really glad that high school was finally coming to an end(whew!!) but not with a bang like we had expected it to but with a fizzle.

Although are final exams were just a month away, we had been coming to school every now and then, just to haunt the teachers and our friends with our presence. And of course, to pester our juniors to start preparing for the party. To our massive disappointment , they did anything but that? What was the world coming to you? We had given up all enough and were even planning to 'ditch the party' as my friend, Sarah had put it.

After a lot of persuasion and threats by our teachers, we decided not be a poor sport and come to the party. If we had survived three nightmarish years of O Level, surviving this party would not be a problem.

Today, the day of the party, after the chaos of doing our hair and makeup, we were driven to school in white limos."Might as well enjoy the ride", I thought, thinking it would be the only fun we would have that day.

As per tradition, the crowd consisting of our juniors and teachers , hooted loudly as I sucked in a deep breath. As we entered the school building, the other people smiled as if they knew something that we did not.

I threw bestie a quick glance and found that she too was thinking the same thing. There was definitely something fishy going on! We took in the beautiful decor and finally took our seats . Now was the time our patience would be tested.

But oh boy was I wrong! Once we were through with the Principal's address, the juniors took the stage by storm. Dance performances, songs and skits that were so humorous; they left us laughing till the tears ran down our cheeks. " When did they do all this?" we asked one another.Although all stage performances were absolutely enthralling, the highlight of the evening was the Qawali, or classical song prepared by the ninth graders. They had written the lyrics themselves portraying our entire class and our antics. Propped up in traditional dresses, they looked absolutely adorable. We laughed and cried for not only was this a massive surprise but also because it was then that it struck that we were leaving. Those classrooms that had seemed like walls leaning in on us...........the building itself that had been our safe haven for the past eight years of our lives, we were leaving them all behind.

The evening ended with a ravishing dinner and lots of tears, not to mention the selfies. We thanked our juniors profusely for putting up such a wonderful show. It was no wonder they had kept it a surprise. As we left, we knew one thing for sure. Although we were leaving behind the safe haven school was for us, our legacy would carry on!!!

Sending positive vibes your way,
