The Sunny Side #4: Robert Louis Stevenson

in #life7 years ago

Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.

Robert Louis Stevenson. The name isn't very familiar to many outside of the literary world. But he did create some of the great works of his age. Novels such as Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde are just a few of his best. If you ever get a chance to read about him or to read his work, take the extra time and do it. You won't be disappointed.

While you go throughout your day, look around you. What do you see? Probably a boring workplace, a dingy office or what have you. But is that all?

What about that homeless man on the corner while you were walking to work?

Or maybe your boss, who is having a tough time at home right now?

Your work is late and you know you could do better?

We all have activities that we go through each day, almost mindlessly. But how about next time you take a few minutes out of your day and attend to the small things.

Plant your seeds!

Show some love to that special person in your life.

Take some flowers or candy to your mother or grandmother.

Go fishing with dad or grandad.

Bring in some cookies or drinks for the office.

Go the extra mile on that project or work for your boss.

Shake hands with someone you've seen before but never acknowledged.

Say a kind word to that old man on the street.

Praise your employees for their hard work.

These are just some examples of what you could do throughout the day to make someone's day a little brighter or easier. Get out there and think some more up!

Because when you plant those little seeds, when people see your kindness, they will reward you with little seeds of their own! Soon, you'll have a whole plot of good feelings and deeds that will grow into a beautiful, blossoming garden, one that everyone will want to get into and bask in!

Plant those little seeds and see what greatness comes of it!

“You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him find it within himself.” ― Galileo Galilei.png

Wow! What a beautiful, and uplifting post!

Certainly we all need to give our loved ones more time and undivided attention

We do go through life, blind and like zombies. Mass conditioning and 'always rushing to the next moment' I think are big contributors

When we are too busy to, as the say, stop and smell the roses (I do love roses), it's easy to forget to be grateful.

My mind goes 1million miles an hour, and that's good because I grasp self-development concepts well (I just study them for hours out of love)
but not being able to stop thinking is something to be mindful is kept at bay

I find deep breathing, exercise, writing and reading posts likes yours here all help with calming the mind.
