I enjoyed reading your post and thought about how my pantheon/mythology has changed over the years. I focus a lot on my dreams and have a teacher who has led shamanic journey's to places like Merlin's orchard. It's amazing how many people/symbols/animals you meet along the way and how these present as helpers in developing those qualities we wish to espouse more of.
Not sure if you've looked into animal medicine, but relates in some way with meeting an animal in a different way--say a praying mantis lands on your shirt, then look up that animals medicine and often enough it's right on with current life situations.

Oh ya, I'm very familiar with animal medicine in that sense, though it's far less often that I actually look them up, I generally meditate on the animal, its way of being, how it moves, etc. It's pretty amazing how much guidance the natural world has for us when we're willing to ask & listen.
