I do agree with you on most of these, travelling alone is indeed great, but I think it's always good not to be a lone wolf constantly and to look forward to meeting new people on the trip and befriending some locals.
Neither Tripadvisor, nor wikitravel will tell you so much insights about your destination than a local who has been living there.
