Safe Haven

What is a Safe Haven these days

As we see massive volatility in the stock markets, many are looking to a safer store of Value (or should I say time and labor store). They are looking more than ever at options but are being manipulated toward a few select markets.

Cash

Many believe that the ultimate safe haven when market volition makes them edgy is cash. But with currencies (USD for example), loosing 97% of its value, it is hardly a safe haven or any kind of haven... it is a trap.

Bonds

Since Stocks keep popping up and down almost daily and to such amazing degree, the legacy move is into bonds and treasuries. But this market is so dangerous at this time and set to implode... again hardly a safe place to be. And since it is debt by design, it can not be deemed an asset, well it has been by those that do not use reality as a base, but rather trust in fiction.

Real Estate

Many have used real estate throughout history as the ultimate safe haven, but it is not fool proof of eat. You must be able to manage the property (many interesting challenges arise constantly) and you must be able to hold it through desperate economic upheavals and government seizures. It’s value is indisputable, yet its liquidity, transport and maintenace mae it a difficult asset class.

Gold - Silver

Safe Havens for every culture, country or clan for thousands of years. Recently decried but the new techies but foolishly so. As governments and countries (well intelligent ones), are stockpiling these assets, they too become safer for individuals. Confiscation can happen with anything, from real estate to personal freedom.. so don’t let this idea hamper your protection plans.

Cryptos

So with these few safe havens the evolution of a new one has emerged to store and cultivate ones assets. The concept is brilliant as it is so easily held, secured and transported that it is quickly growing into a premiere asset. But it too is not a real safe haven yet as fluctuations (read as manipulation), seems to be just as easy and thus far not the best go to safe haven.

Adaptability

This has always been the best safe haven, your ability to adapt to each situation that arises. Be it through diversification, reallocation or just plain sell and buy options. There is no perfect option as each has its flaws or limitations, so your ability to recognize opportunities and or trends is and always will be your education, diligence and situational awareness.

You are the Safe Haven

I feel cash is a safe haven 'cuz the stock market looks pretty scare right now for peeps who look at the support and trendlines!!! Cash doesn't lose 97% of its value in one year, so I can always move it when I need to.

When a country devalues its currency over time, it is possible for quick transactions in and out. However how many times throughout history has a country altered the cash values overnight and by surprise. Look to Switzerland, Argentina, Venezuela or Zimbabwe in recent times. But look back at the demise of all throughout history.
