It is in the middle of a mild winter here in the Pacific Northwest, which means rain, darkness, and more rain. We get an average of 36.29 in(921.766 ml) of rain a year here. This means I am busy dreaming of summer and the sun, and thinking about all of the amazing experiences we had this past summer. Here is just one of our awesomely weird summer adventures.
Every year we drive to Lynden, WA. Lynden is a small dutch town full of windmills, churches, farms, and friendly people. They have a big summer fair in the summer complete with rides, carnival games, food trucks, and a TON of tractors and farm animals. This past summer E, who was 4 at the time, decided that he wanted to sign up for Mutton Busting. This is an odd small town activity that is basically a rodeo for little kids. They gear up, hop on the back of a big fluffy sheep, and ride it as long as they can. When E said he wanted to give it a try we decided to be awesome parents and capture the moment for his future wedding one day. He started to get very nervous as he watched the other kids fall of the sheep. We were extremely proud of him for trying something new even though he was so nervous!
My hope for myself is that I will push myself to become more like my kids. Always trying new things even when I am completely unsure and nervous.
