The plow of the earth with yoke of oxen. Planting of vegetables in the Andean Paramo.

in #life7 years ago

On my way to the City of "Los Caballeros", by Trasandina road, I could observe several vegetable plantations in the fertile lands of the area.

The methods of preparation of the land are traditional, according to local customs, namely:

Peaks and Hoes: Peasants spend the day removing the earth superficially, removing weeds and some rocks.

"Yunta de bueyes": In the Páramo area it is very common that the plow used is made of wood and is pulled by a pair of oxen united by means of a yoke. This yoke of oxen is guided by the farmer through all the land with the purpose of removing the earth and opening the furrows in soil to sow the seeds of the different vegetables.

The preparation of the land is vital to obtain a good harvest, so the selection of the seed, the fertilizer of the land and the period of the year are something that have been learned very well even to the children of the area, since the customs and teachings pass from generation to generation. I could inherit some of this, because my mother was born and lived in a town called La Venta where she learned from planting to milking cows and making smoked cheese, she also taught me the art of agriculture.

Sort:

The primitive systems of plantation have lasted because they are very effective in the planting of vegetables, vegetables and other plants .....

Agriculture using animals has always been a culture in the Andean fields
