The word change may seem too scary for us humans, as we tend to feel better with things the way we're used to, but no one can deny the fact that, at some points, we figure out that the old ways, we're taking, will never end up opening new doors for us. We should admit that sometimes we end up making wrong choices, but we don't really figure that out until it's a bit late. It'd be better to change that late than never!

" Better late than never. "
-Spencer Johnson

Change got no age or time limitation. It all depends on the one's current status. I'm actually talking from a personal experience, through which I've done some small and others big changes in my life.So I know that no matter what are the reasons behind this change,it may be personal, professional or social. It will eventually end up with some basic steps to follow.

  1. Awareness:
You're the only person who'd really know what's wrong and what needs change or should be let go of. In other words, you'll be listing the pros and cons in your life. You should take your time examining the situation, and analyzing it deeply so you can figure out the real cause and plan for a healthier change. Identifying the toxins in you're life is crucial, it will lead you to the next step into making the change.
"Nobody knows the future in certainty. We can, however, identify ongoing patters of change. " Alvin Toffler

  2. Mindset:
At this stage you'll be knowing what are you targeting exactly and why, so the idea is clear, and it should be easier to get yourself into the right mindset for a change. You should know that personal change takes time. So prepare yourself for this reality, and don't give up because change doesn't happen quick enough, or it feels like you're not making progress. Actually the main key here is to be willing and ready to be committed for this change that you're working on.

  3. Strategic Vision:
Building a nice solid strategic plan, based on priorities and importance of each step, will help you stay on track and make it easier, as if you'll be knowing in advance what is it that you're going to do next, or somehow to be a step ahead of yourself. Make sure you don't get lost in the transition and don't loose the sense of why are you doing this in the first place. Keep in mind that change should be fluent and divided into small steps. Every step should make the next clearer and easier. So start with basics and make one step at a time. Multi-tasking here is not really recommended so try to keep it simple.

  4. Short term wins:
Following your plan, you should start working on your goals. At first start with the short term ones, so that you'll eventually feel the change step by step, and you'll kind of start getting used to the idea and see change in your life. Short term goals will give you motivation. You'll love to maintain the progress and start to learn how to build a daily routine that helps you accomplish your goals, which brings us to the next step.

  5. Self discipline:
You should be ready to get uncomfortable. Change requires you willing to step outside of your comfort zone, to try new things, meet new people and do thing you're not used to. Commitment, daily routine and self discipline are the main key to maintain your progress and make sure you get what you want. Get yourself into a healthy balanced life style. Eat healthier, exercise and live your social life but make it all work together to get you closer to what you really want.

  6. Be your own Cheerleader:
When you change, the people around you will react. Some will support you, and some will work actively to resist you. Build up your inner strength and realize that you don't need anyone's approval. If they give it to you, that's a gift. But if they don't, you know what you're doing and why, and you only need yourself as a cheerleader. And know that only the Sky is your limit.

Knowing these six basic steps for change should walk you through the entire process with safety. Hope this would be a help for anyone who is willing or in need of change like I was at a certain point of my life. Let me know what you thing and it would make me glad to know if you got any of your own ways to make change work.
