The definition of beauty for AFRICA
Beauty for long has failed to have a conventional definition. This has driven a lot of people crazy, and confused as they fail to know what real beauty may mean. According to the European world Davinich portrait of Monalisa may define beauty, to the Egyptians Nefertiti their ancient queen is seen as a mark and symbol of what beauty may be. This therefore leaves the Africans, Americans and Asians confused of what real beauty may mean. In America height is considered as the prerequisite of beauty still as both men and women are subjected to being 6’’ for one to have glance at the secret pageant.
Therefore in Africa which is home of diversity what can be our convention definition or scale of beauty. Starting from my home here in Uganda, ethnocentrism draws the lines of what is considered to be or can be compared to the subject. This is no longer any news as even one Nigerian people think that Jesus the Christ could have been an Igbo man, of course due to the pride associated with their tribe. But even then what can we do, just leave Africans be. Its in Africa that polygamy is common and why the cause, we are chasing after beauty. For sure leave the Africans alone even me on my way to write this article my sight collided with some beautiful souls, alas even yesterday and yesternight. Then what will solve the paradox in my sight. Pray that in yo comments one resolve the issue about this because my African comrades need an answer.
In January I listened to radio article at BBC world service and one writer was fascinated about hoe people in Malaysia perceive armpits as sexy. This left my thinking what if they went to the wimboderode wont all the Malaysians just die of being ‘horny’ just meaning orgasm. In all Caribbean black American songs, the booty is a mark of a sexy and beautiful girl. In Ethiopia and south Africa the face components make the magic. But in Uganda size matters. No matter how cute your face is as long as your slim, you cannot make it to the most beautiful in your own family. This is what puzzles all Ugandan as the miss world contest always points out these thin slender Ladies.
Therefor we need the way forward some one help Africans realize that beauty is may be different from their view of ethnocentrism but just a matter of choice. As to me I have settled with one thing in mind as long as some thing is my choice them its beauty to me. Not forgetting the wonderful muffins I enjoy on my way home every day.
If you think you can define beauty just give it your best the floor is yours.
