Resteeming doesn't directly benefit the resteemer; it helps expose their output to a wider audience, which means there's a higher chance that their post will be upvoted with rewards.
So, you won't get STEEM or SBD for doing so -- but, you might have some minnows who are following you and not me, who will then have the opportunity to participate.
One strategy (for the minnows) is to both resteem, and make an original post, something like "Please vote for me in @libertyteeth's contest!" I noticed @bearbear613 did so while I was searching for the previous contest:
