I removed the plate and my eczema went away immediately. Don't think it can be too good for your immune system to have something foreign in your body. It also caused structural issues in that it was keeping my leg rotated and pulling my foot to the outside. I have seen many orthopedic surgeons, and they all examined me and could see something is off. However, none ever offered any useful information or advice so I assumed it was just a permanent effect of the surgery. Doctors don't seem to have any curiosity or interest in patient outcomes beyond the bare minimum that the system requires of their profession. Also, their answer to everything is surgery even though a different modality may be more effective. Information is too compartmentalized and it makes everything stupid just so people who wasted a lot of time in school can feel like gatekeepers.

Great advice, hope everything works out for you
I feel for you because I was in the same situation several years ago.
I've had 4 inches log piece of metal and several screws in me for 3 years before they removed it.
But my surgeon has said while fixing my broken bone, that he'll take the hardware away in due time. That he did and I was glad I've got rid of it.
I hope it all turns out just great with your hip.
Thanks for sharing your story. I hope I can get mine out too! Was it an easy recovery? And is it true that your muscles grow after you remove the metal?
You are welcome. I hope that too.
The recovery was far easier than the recovery after the installation :) Which is obvious, of course.
