This is one of the most traditional Venezuelan dishes, is made up of pulled beef (carne mechada), black beans (caraotas), rice (arroz) and fried plantains (tajadas o platano frito), as the most basic version of it. Some times has avocado (aguacate) as side or a fried egg (huevo frito). When fried plantains side are added, it is known as the “Pabellón con Baranda”. If you want it with a fried egg you ask it as a "Pabellón a caballo" (horseback).
Sometimes pabellón is accompanied with arepas, the cornmeal tortillas that we eat in place of bread or rolls.
People believe the colours in this dish means each main component racial in our culture: white rice and brown beef: African, European and indigenous.
What do you consider is the most traditional dish in your country?
looks compelling. I loved the colors of this dish. Makki Di Roti with Sarso Saag (Maize flour flat bread with mustard greens (sarson) and spices) with traditional pickles and yoghurt is traditional food in Punjab India.
It is! maybe you can try it someday if you mix some rice, pulled meat and frijoles i think is easy :)
Surely I would some day.
