Spiritual slavery is another worse situation any religious person can find him/herself in...
I'll tell you my story...
Mom and I worshipped in a church (name withheld) for a year and 3 months. We were committed workers who didn't joke with our God and church activities. We were eager to take part in any activities that would bring glory to God and for the heavenly rewards.
The moment my mom was called upon to sit at the Pastoral seat, she lost her job with the bank she worked with the following day. From that day, things began to get worse.
Being the first and only female drummer in the church, I was oppressed by guys who felt I was outshining them in the instrumental department. They placed me on probation at the band stand and I had little or no access to the drums. I was ill treated but I endured for as long as I could.
On the other hand, the church founder offered my mom a job to manage his Nursery and Primary school as the school's administrator to help support her fashion business. My mom accepted the founder's offer due to the fact that she couldn't turn down the proposal of her spiritual father.
I pondered on why a church I worshipped in should fight my grace and talent instead of grooming the talent I have. This led to unraveling many mysteries that was kept in the dark which led to me breaking out of spiritual slavery bit by bit.
My mother was owed 3 months salary while junior staff were paid. She kept suffering and smiling and pretending like all was well until the faithful day she decided to step down as the school's administrator, she was labeled a thief and a vulgar lady by the church founder and his members.
Before she could realize what was happening, her tailors absconded with her money, some of her industrial sewing machines, sewing materials and kits, fashion students etc and closed down the fashion house.

A business we slept in the church, squatted with a stranger, stayed hungry and prayed day and night to start, closed down in a day all because of misleading and faulty spiritual foundation.

Being in school is almost impossible for me as I can't afford my fees for this semester. Lemme not bore you with my tragic story.
In every phase of life I am passing through, I never stop to thank God because I know one day, everything I'm facing will surely come to an end. I shall celebrate my victory soon.
If you are in a denomination and it doesn't change your life positively, change the denomination. Don't be subjected to a position of a puppet when you're meant to be a king. Refuse to be a spiritual slave.
Fellow steemians, this is my true life story.
