New electric motor will be smaller with more power

Much research has been done in the last year to make the batteries more efficient in producing power, in order to improve the autonomy of vehicles equipped with electric motors. But it is also possible to do the same with the electric motor, which can become more compact and transmit power with less loss of energy, with a different design.

This is the case with Magnax's new axial flow motor, which is an alternative to traditional radial-flow motors. This electric motor can use more copper with less space and expel heat more easily, maintaining a high level of power for longer.

In practical terms, Magnax announces the equivalent of a generation of 10 hp / kg in normal use, and 20 hp / kg in full speed. The Belgian company will present a prototype with 275 mm diameter, weighing 24 kg, capable of reaching about 400 horsepower, ideal for high performance cars and propeller airplanes, and another smaller, with 185 mm, 8 kg and 136 hp, for compact cars and motorcycles.
