Creating a to-do list can magically set you up for a productive day. However, such lists always contain a pitfall: the stress of the fact that some items remain unfulfilled every day. In addition, such lists tend to increase over the day, which means they add a headache and are not carried out anyway. Therefore, we throw a list of things and do what we have in our heads.
As a result, there are lists of will-do, which bypass many of the problems inherent in ordinary lists.
What's wrong with the to-do list?
It is very similar to the fact that you are sitting at the table, and you bring cakes. Everything goes fine, but as you eat cakes you are not even brought the same number of new ones, and even more. In the end, you do not even pay attention to your food, but stare at the new cakes and think about when it will all end.
Therefore, instead of enjoying your business, you begin to feel stress and a threat from all the new obligations. As a result, you simply lose control and experience frustration.
It is possible to transfer all new business to the list "Someday" and "Possible deeds", however, they eventually swell so much that you do not want to even look in them. As a result, you do not even think about why you need all these things, stop seeing the big picture and start digging in details.
And of course all this kills at all motivation. That is, for which reason such lists and methods of increasing productivity were created.
The introduction of will-do sheets
To overcome all the shortcomings of the lists of cases, we will use the new method. Take your list and select a few cases that you complete the next day. That is, not those things that you want to do or perhaps do, but things that you sincerely commit to do. Replace the long list with a few commitments.
There are two important principles in compiling such a list:
- This is a list of obligations
Your goal is to fulfill 100% of these cases every day. Remember the important point: if you do not feel that this business should become an obligation, do not include it in your new list.
Perfectly in such a list is that you do not need to allocate 10-12 hours to fulfill these obligations. Select only 3 hours a day, this will be enough. For example, 3 obligations for one hour. From you no one requires working on them until exhaustion, only 3 hours a day.
This means that when you go to sleep, you will feel much better, because you have fulfilled your obligations. And of course the rest of the time you can do other things: however, this list should not be completed, it can be replenished and structured. The main task for the day you accomplished.
- Do not update the list of obligations
This is a closed list: when it was created, it should not be replenished and re-stressing you. It can become smaller, but no more.
The list of obligations can be one-off cases, and there may be cases related to learning something. So do not take on other obligations, because it will bring the list of will-do to the usual list.
