Life on the Homestead#1

in #life7 years ago

We had a beautiful sunny morning on the homestead here in northwest Florida. It was nice and cool for the first time this year. Our fall seems to get later and later in the year these days, so we decided to hang out in the back yard with our chickens. Jay and Penelope just cant' help themselves and always pick them up. The ladies don't seem to mind though. They allow the kids to carry them around like a small dog. Not sure why but they are trying to get Goldie to eat grass. 20171029_120056.jpg
We started out with 8 female chickens earlier in the year. We had 4 ISA Browns and 4 Barred Rocks. We've had them since they were about 2 days old. Sadly we lost one to a massive hawk.

These two are the two newest members to the flock. Wyatt Earp (top) and Doc Holiday (bottom). They always seemed to hang out at the neighbors house but after a while they came for a visit and haven't left. We don't mind as they seem to keep a watchful eye over the ladies.
