Power of the powerless is an essay on communist regime written by czech dissident and later president Václav Havel. I'm reading it right now and I particularly like this one sentence (for those of you who are lucky enough not to know what happened during communism in Czech Republic, the main thing this quote relates to is that majority of the people were acting like they believed in the ideology of communism and equality, but in reality they just wanted power and they were killing, torturing and putting people to prisons in the name of this ideology).
~ Ideology is a specious way of relating to the world. It offers human beings the illusion of an identity, of dignity, and of morality while making it easier for them to part with them. ~
